Job Description

Summary:
Responsible for calibration, repair, maintenance, and documentation of all assigned medical equipment in accordance with department, hospital, and regulatory agencies to ensure safe and efficient use of patient care equipment.
Responsibilities:
Maintain all electrical requirements for the hospital, understanding and conscientious record keeping of all maintenance repairs and inspections for equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, and calibrations to ensure all devices meet appropriate safety and performance requirements.
Document, evaluate, and set standards for equipment usage and repairs. Monitor utilization of equipment and supplies
Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and calibration for a specialty. Assist in the coordination of all maintenance functions including being the first line of maintenance and repair and Preventative Maintenance (PMs).
Actively participate in the investigation of incidents and training and education of technical and medical personnel.
Maintain current knowledge of standards, codes and operations of all clinical and test equipment. Inform Director/Manager, Coordinator and/or Senior Technicians of problems encountered with repairs or calibration of equipment.
Submit purchase orders/requisitions for departmental inventory and equipment replacement and repair parts in a timely manner for processing.
Work closely with Purchasing and Material Management Dept. to oversee proper receiving protocols with patient care equipment.
Maintain instruments and tools in proper condition.
Report immediately all incidents, irregularities, unsafe conditions, and/or unusual occurrences.
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by fulfilling and recommending procedures, performing safety tests, complying with codes, and guiding and training health care and medical personnel.
Requirements:
3-5 yr. experience biomedical/clinical engineering experience working on High Risk and Life Support Medical and General Medical Equipment
3-5 yr. experience incident investigation of biomedical/clinical equipment
High School diploma or GED required; AA degree or higher, bio-med, clinical engineering, preferred
Transferable military experience
