The Senior Apparel Designer drives the overall visual language and implementation of YETI’s apparel collections. This role partners with YETI leaders to meet creative, marketing, brand, and business objectives of our apparel while managing external partners to ensure quality, timelines, and fabrication. Core areas of responsibility includes adhering to brand guidelines while continuously challenging and improving upon our core visuals, applying that effort to everything produced, from seasonal apparel collections to more pursuit or event-focused offerings. YETI’s Senior Apparel Designer must be ready & able to communicate big ideas, providing strategic perspective to the creative process, and act as evangelist for premium, on-brand creative work. In addition to overseeing creative and fabrication processes, this role will serve a minor leadership component, managing brand designers supporting apparel efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Inspire and motivate the entire design team by promoting a high-performance fun environment, a strong sense of urgency, quality standards, creative exploration, innovation, and continuous learning
• Staying aware of trends, colors and related products in this space to respond and innovate on consumer needs
• Create artwork that aligns with YETI’s core pursuits and seasonal offerings, developing collections from concept to production
• Serve as an aspirational beacon for the Brand Design team in creating best-in-class creative work, elevating YETI’s brand
• Produce, maintain and update creative presentations, sketches, native files, specifications, mood boards, color directions as required
• Handle difficult situations with grace while under pressure
• Guide and promote a strength based, positive culture
• Participate in resourcing for the creative services team which includes planning project teams for upcoming efforts and adjusting resources as necessary on current projects.
• Create apparel collections that reinforce and strengthen YETI’s brand and help to generate consumer demand
• Create versatile apparel collections, responding to the range of interests of YETI consumers, maintaining an active awareness of trends
• Create vendor-friendly tech packs and production files
• Inspire the design team with energy, passion, and thought leadership
• Develop and mentor talent to be best in class via timely, effective feedback
• Focus team efforts to ensure efficiency, prioritize projects, align resources and measure results

Qualifications and Attributes:

A successful candidate will possess: in-depth experience in design and illustration and/or image-making; a deep understanding of trends and production of apparel and swag; and strong relationship management skills in a highly driven, fast moving cross-functional entrepreneurial environment.

• Proactive in nature and driven to act with a sense of urgency; able to work well under pressure and with demanding deadlines
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in apparel visual design
• Successful track record leading a design team; able to delegate, coach, mentor and provide effective direction and feedback
• Proficiency and refinement in all stages of presentation, from concept to final design review
• Expertise in managing external partners, agencies, and freelancers
• Highly organized with good project management skills. Able to juggle multiple, and sometimes, conflicting priorities and needs
• A global mind-set with a keen interest to help launch the YETI brand globally
• Good eye for detail with a locked eye on the big picture
• Strong collaboration and influence skills; able to build effective relationships with stakeholders across organizational levels
• Very good sense for colors, creativity and graphical talent
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Self-driven leader able to work in a fast moving, ever-changing cross-functional team environment
• Have a broad knowledge of apparel manufacturing. Prototype making is a plus.
• Optimistic, energetic and naturally brings the fun to the office
• Bachelor’s degree in design, Fashion and/or relevant field of study
• Experience of directly leading a small design team is a strong advantage

US Workplace Approach:

• Remote: Role is full-time remote.
• Hybrid: Role requires you to be located in Austin, Texas and is a mixture of onsite and remote.
• Onsite: Role requires you to be onsite full-time.
