Job Description

Waterford's Finance team is growing and we are looking for a Senior Accountant! You'll help us make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking and correcting information. You'll be responsible for financial audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring financial records are accurate. In addition to the accounting responsibilities you'll research, evaluate and interpret financial data and create financial models around different business initiatives.

We operate as a service provider to the rest of the organization and our external partner network. Responsibilities:

  • Assist and ensure compliance with processes such as: month-end/year-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Develops and manipulates complex financial models for support and analysis of business initiatives
  • Support Controller with projects, audits, and reports
  • Commitment to collaborating on and contributing to organizational DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) mission, beliefs, values and goals
  • Participate in preparation of grant funding schedules
  • Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis
  • Producing financial data for management team upon request and assisting with other special accounting projects
  • Use good judgment and strong professional skills to evaluate accounting practices and procedures for preparation of accounting records and reporting, consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), standard methodologies, and the organizations policies
  • Researches, evaluates and interprets financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools
  • High level of integrity, ethics, emotional intelligence, and business judgment to drive internal and external candor, compliance, and mission
  • Determine and correct errors in transaction processing and accounting
  • Collaborate in the design, planning, development, and deployment of enhancements to existing financial systems and new applications
  • Continuously champions, promotes, and advances diversity, equity, and inclusion through all related job functions

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years proven experience in profit and not-for-profit accounting
  • Excellent digital literacy including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Able to travel up to 1 week per month if not located in Salt Lake City Metropolitan area
  • Collaborates well with coworkers
  • Able to work independently, demonstrate good personal judgment and exercise a dedication to ethical conduct
  • Excellent asset-based written and verbal communication skills and will maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to handle tasks efficiently under pressure when circumstances dictate a sense of urgency
  • MBA, CMA, or CPA certification is a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite or Vena accounting software and software system implementation preferred

Waterford.org team members are located across the United States and primarily work from home. We anticipate this position will pay a base salary of $59,000-95,000 annually depending on the education, experience and skill level of the individual we hire. The position is also eligible for uncapped commission and additional bonuses. We offer a phenomenal benefits package that includes fully paid primary premiums for health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, and disability insurance. New hires receive a one-time HSA contribution. Retirement contributions are matched up to 5% by the organization. Plus, a generous vacation, sick, and holiday offering.
