The Security Staff is responsible for monitoring and responding to security and emergency situations at Boise Centre’s facility and events, as assigned. Reporting to the Safety and Security Manager, the Security Staff follows safety and security policies and procedures to maintain a secure facility for clients, guests, and employees. The Security Staff is responsible for providing excellent customer service by promptly responding to questions or concerns regarding the safety and security of Boise Centre.

- Complete wage range: $17.28-$22.84 per hour, depending on experience

WHAT DO SECURITY STAFF DO?
- Communicates regularly with supervisors and other departments to ensure the success of events by providing timely, respectful, and thorough customer service
- Enforces all state or federal codes, and organizational policies related to safety and security
- Assists with loading dock traffic and freight elevator activities
- Uses professional radio etiquette to communicate work-related information
- Responds quickly to client and department needs and changes
- Responds to security and emergency situations, safety incidents, and resolves operational issues
- Documents incidents to share with the Safety and Security Manager
- Monitors safety equipment; first aid kits, AEDs, fire extinguishers, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participates in department, company, and industry related professional organizations and training
- Monitors Boise Centre properties, Grove Plaza, and Grove extensions
- Performs a variety of related tasks and duties as assigned
- Provides additional labor support for Operational, Event, or Facility related needs
- Monitors events and building activities to ensure the safety of clients, guests, and employees
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Interacts professionally and effectively with others
- Regular and reliable work attendance at scheduled time on-site
- Responsible to be dependable and a self-starter
- Advanced communication skills and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal staff, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to read, understand, and carry out simple and detailed written or verbal instructions
- Assesses multiple demands and priorities and identifies necessary resources to handle critical work demands
- Works as a team player, sharing knowledge and skills
- Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified
- One year of event or crowd control experience, preferred
- Professionally deal with own emotions, reactions, and motivations and maintain a courteous demeanor at all times
- Ability to prioritize tasks and be flexible with changes in work loads
- Ability to perform multiple functions in a fast-paced environment
- Provides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customers
- Communicates regularly within department and cross functional teams
- Present a neat, clean, and professional appearance by following established grooming and uniform standards
- Maintain a calm demeanor in times of crisis or pressure
- Knowledge of life safety guidelines, emergency, and security protocols
- Minimum age requirement of 19 years old due to alcohol containment
- Proficient record keeping, spreadsheet, and word processing skills
- Manages workday efficiently
- Ability to work in a high-stress, high-volume work environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently will: stand and walk for long periods of time; bend, stoop, kneel, and twist; reach and use of ladders, stools, and stairs; lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally will: ascend tall heights up to 22 feet and work in outdoor weather conditions, be exposed to moderate noise levels
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and perform heavy manual labor for extended periods
Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours, long hours, weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays
