Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
Performs a variety of secretarial duties, under general supervision, in any assigned department or nursing unit. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prints and updates staffing boards.
- Performs receptionist duties and screens all personnel and visitors.
- Files in employee records as needed.
- Makes telephone calls to obtain additional staff as necessary.
- Assists in staffing in order to ensure appropriate levels of staff for quality care
- Makes time changes as necessary.
- Directs Supplemental Staff to units, validates sign in & out of supplemental staff
- Calls staff for reassignment or overtime; notifies and records appropriately.
- Communicates staffing needs to appropriate managers, Supervisors and patient care units.
- Records unit census on daily staffing sheets.
- Assigns supplemental staff.
- Checks the JCAHO regulatory requirements for supplemental staff.
- Handles confidential disciplinary documentation.
- Records absence from duty of nursing personnel and reports information to appropriate unit.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
- Assigns nursing staff according to staffing need
- May relieve Data Entry Clerk as needed.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Prior clerical experience in healthcare preferred.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.71 - $25.71 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
