Job Description

Scrum Master Specialist are business, function, or process specialist with a background in project management. You will demonstrate the ability to clearly express and share ideas and risks both verbally and written, in a positive manner to our organization, including all levels of management. Demonstrate confidence and listening to confirm understanding of the deliverable. You need to be knowledgeable about processes and can explain them to others. Have understanding of how they fit into the bigger picture and recommends process changes. Lead process change or contribute to policy change. Scrum Master Specialist I is seen as an Individual Contributor within their team. You do not manage other individuals, however, they are expected to informally mentor junior members within your team. As an individual contributor you are considered a member of a group or team focused on delivering our goals by following structured processes. Share responsibility with other team members to ensure product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities and the ability to act as a team member. Directly responsible for personal and team success for projects and delivering value. You will report to the IT Manager, GCSS Government.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove impediments and serve as a leader.
  • Facilitate daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings.
  • Know and understand the Scrum process and your role within it.
  • Maximize the benefits of the Scrum process.
  • Be empowered to make decisions and deliver value.
  • Build trust with your team.
  • Participate in the Scrum Master Commuity of Practice by sharing experiences and demonstrating techniques to promote the community.
  • Support delivery of Stories and Features at the local team level
  • Identify impediments and resolves using network of peers and formal channels (including escalation)
  • Introduce new and promoted practices to improve the team and their delivery throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Display ability to work in a DevOps environment
  • Agile & Technical Learning: finds and participates in multiple learning opportunities such as Communities of Practice, classroom training and independent study to further develop self and community.

Qualifications

  • A four year degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years direct experience working in an Agile methodology as a Scrum Master or Agile team member
  • Experience bringing at least 1-3 teams to Agile and 1 or more projects/products
  • Analytical and conceptual skills
  • Can maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels
  • Have coaching skills and may coach other team members
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and lack of face-to-face time with colleagues and managers
