Job Description
Duties


  • You will develop specific cybersecurity countermeasures and risk mitigation strategies for Signature Training Systems/Networks and Signature Guidance Training Systems/Networks.
  • You will develop, modify, enhance, and sustain new or existing computer applications, software, or utility programs following software assurance best practices throughout the software lifecycle.
  • You will design, development, and test software and specialized software architectures for Signature Guidance systems and Tactical Decision Aids.
  • You will design and develop cybersecurity or cybersecurity-enabled products of Signature Training Systems/Networks and Signature Guidance Training Systems/Networks.
  • You will serve as a SCIENTIST in the FLEET SIGNATURES SYSTEMS DIVISION (CODE 763), of the SIGNATURES DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WAR CENTER, MD.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 - Software Developer level II within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.


Qualifications


In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level or ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist analyzing software development to support system requirements.

Education


Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:


Bachelor's degree in computer science.


OR


Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.


An official or unofficial transcripts or a list of courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned issued from your school must be provided.
