Description:

Seeking a highly qualified and experienced Scientific Director to lead our Special Chemistry and Endocrinology Diagnostics Laboratory Section. Responsible for overseeing the administrative, technical, and scientific aspects of their assigned discipline, including method evaluation.

The selected candidate provides leadership to staff to support clinical testing needs and develop new assays. The position ensures compliance with corporate policies, accreditation, licensing, and regulatory standards. Develops and maintains quality control mechanisms, interprets test results, and serves as a technical expert in their area of expertise. Manages equipment maintenance, supplies, staffing, and budgeting. Collaborates with operational directors to develop objectives, plans, and budgets. Maintains confidentiality, resolves problems, and promotes a positive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and budget management
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field or related laboratory science program
  • In-depth knowledge of assigned disciplines, quality management, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
  • Three or more years of progressive experience in a clinical laboratory (or 2 years with Board certification)
  • CLIA requirements met as a Technical Supervisor and Clinical Consultant; preferred eligibility for NY Certificate of Qualification. Experience in mass spectrometry is a plus.
