Job Title : Social Worker

Start Date: September 5th, 2023 – June 15th, 2023.

Work Hours: Full time hours; up to 37.5 Hors

Caseload: less than 30 K-12th Grade School Students

The role of this position entails providing a full range of services to students and parents who need additional support. As a key member of the support team, this position will partner with school administration, guidance counselors, nurses, and teachers to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for at-risk students and families throughout the course of the school year.

Essential Duties

• To observe, report and record changes in students receiving mental health services including physical, mental health and behavior.
• To ensure that all communication is within the boundaries of client confidentiality and to seek guidance when unsure.
• To be aware of and work with the principles of IDEA, Chapter 14 and Chapter 15 of PA School Regulations and the MHA (Mental Health Act).
• Provide training to para-education support staff in related to mental health and behavior
• Participate in case reviews with other team members
• Provide referrals to outside agencies
• To have knowledge of risk assessment and management tools currently in use for risk assessment
• Provide counseling and emotional support for students who have mental health issues in the school setting
• Any additional duties that the CEO/Principal deems appropriate and necessary
• To record all contacts with students and families and keep case notes
• To create and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff with other professionals and agency to enhance recovery.
• To collaborate with team members to plan and implement professional development in the area of mental health and behavior
• To contribute in the coordination of the assessment and evaluation process for students with mental health and behavioral needs.
• To recognize potential crisis situations and act responsively and responsibly until assistance arrives

Requirements

• Experience working with children with developmental disabilities, autism, or special needs
• Masters degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
• PA Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
• Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and principles
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with data collection methods and analysis
