Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Conducts entry-level health and safety assignments, emergency response assignments, medical assignments and training assignments for the facility under general supervision. May direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING LEVEL: Safety related Bachelor's Degree and specialized Certifications in CSP, CIH, Hazard Assessment, Air Monitoring, Workers Compensation, Radiation Safety and HAZWOPER are preferred.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required or the equivalent years of experience in a refinery or petrochemical plant in lieu of the degree (four years in addition to the experience requirement) are required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • Intermediate level computer skills required, including word processing, spreadsheets and basic database programs
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills with ability to adjust to change, coordinate multiple tasks and adjust work schedule to accommodate special or unexpected changes
  • Demonstrate leadership and presentation skills required
  • 0-5 years working in a refinery or oil and gas industry field is required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory Standards
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external customers including senior and executive leadership

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support Process Safety Management program by participating in various PSM element processes, i.e. PHA's, MOC's, PSSR's, etc.
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with Supervisor on progress status, concerns and questions
  • Collect and analyze data, develop conclusions and make recommendations regarding general health and safety, and process safety management problems and issues
  • Conduct Training to plant employees on all Safety Issues and Support Environmental and Health Training
  • Collect, Process and Analyze/Research Safety and Health Data
  • Perform Safety Assessments and compile the data into a presentation format and support identifying action items to address findings.
  • Track loss control equipment so we can help in implementation of recommendations from 3rdparties, auditors and others
  • Perform Incident Investigations
  • Conducts Safety Meetings
  • Emergency response team Participation
  • Audit contractors safe work practices, verify training/certifications and understanding plant rules for Contractor Safety
  • Development and Implementation of Site, Safety and Health policies and procedures
  • Conduct Internal & Regulatory Compliance Audits such as LO/TO/TO, Permitting, Fall Protection

  • Enforcement of Contractor Safety program to assist with the adherence to and full compliance with regulatory standards and best industry practices
