Position Summary

This key role will support general pediatric physicians within the Division of Academic Pediatrics in providing clinical care in a dynamic outpatient setting. This position is during regular clinic hours Monday thru Friday with no weekends.

Primary role will include triaging care and managing tasks related to general pediatric patients including paperwork, orders and scheduling patients. Potential procedure skills we are looking for include ability to obtain respiratory swabs (NP swab, Strep Throat testing), and catheterized urine samples. Position provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments and examinations according to established procedures.

The primary work location is at SLCH and Graham Road in North County. This position may float to other locations based on business needs. Additional locations include;

  • CSCC West County
  • WUPI- Shiloh IL
  • Additional locations with growth or expansion of clinical locations
  • CSCC South County

  • Performs and documents assessment of the patient and family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.
  • Directs and provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
  • Provides appropriate counsel and education to patient and family regarding disease process and symptom management.
  • Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
  • Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates cost-effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
  • Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Professional contributions, including presentations, preceptorships/mentorships, committee participation, community service, inclusion on research or professional publications or local, regional or national professional organization leadership roles.
  • Other duties as assigned to support patient care, the department, and the division.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatrics experience
  • BSN or MSN.Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions and ability to function in new and emergent situations; general knowledge and experience in an area of specialized clinical care.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act.
  • At least two years of related experience within pediatrics.

Salary Range

$59,600.00 - $103,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
