Job Description

Summary

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the assigned Area/Program staff. Works within the local community and lead agency structure to assure that programs is implemented in accordance with established guidelines and contract requirements. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

REQUIRED:


Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing


Previous budgeting experience required.


RN with current licensure to practice as a professional nurse in the state of employment.


Effective June 1, 2018: All new hires and transfers are required to have BLS certification.


PREFERRED:

N/A


Two (2) years of experience in public/community nursing or maternal child nursing.


Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.


CPR and First Aid Instructor course certification.


SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:


Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and ten (10) years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of education requirement.

  • Ability to integrate nursing knowledge and theory into school nursing practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of research, statistics, data collection, and analysis.
  • Must be able to assess health and safety needs of students and/or faculty and apply teaching and learning strategies.
  • Computer experience and literacy.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in local, state, and national conferences.
  • Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality conscious staff by hiring, evaluating performance, counseling, training, issuing corrective action and recommending promotion or discharge of department personnel according to the MH value system. Develops and implements processes through orientation and education to ensure the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved, and demonstrated throughout their employment.
  • Plans, develops, and implements activities and programs related to health.
  • Assures day-to-day quality of the area/program.
  • Ensures that staff maintains compliance with federal, state, local, system, and DNV standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Provides Director with accurate account of annual expenses and ensures efficient utilization of program resources.
  • Establishes effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Assists with the annual operational expense budget, capital request budget, and human resource utilization plan.
  • Assures that the department is quality conscious and follows all risk management policies.
  • Ensures that staff provides adequate and concise documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
