Job Description
Job Summary: The primary responsibilities include patient assessment, patient education and instruction, administration of IV therapies and associated care according to physician orders and documentation of care in the patient record. Exercises appropriate clinical judgment and demonstrates attitudes and behaviors that are professional, empathetic, and courteous.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain patient centered data in a neat and organized manner including chart entries, documentation, or communications to be sent externally.
  • Communicate with patients as applicable.
  • Assist the physician with management of office visits.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs to provide supportive care before, during and after procedures.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations requiring immediate medical intervention. Initiates emergency measures as needed. Assist with maintenance of crash cart.
  • Maintain standard to provide safe, clean, and orderly environment, including cleaning, disinfection, and daily maintenance of any equipment. To include/provide a safe environment for the patient to prevent potential injury.
  • Initiate IVs for patient sedation prior to the procedures.
  • Comply with adverse event reporting and patient privacy policies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, documenting all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient response.
  • Infusion RN will place IVs, administer IV medication, and fluids as ordered. Monitor patients IV medications and tubing. Give intramuscular and subcutaneous injections as ordered. Perform phlebotomy as needed, or as prescribed/ordered. Monitor patients during infusion and discharge patients as policies indicate.
  • Provide patient education and instruction.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physicians orders.
  • Participate in patient education pre and post procedure.
  • Directly assist physicians with procedures including handling and maintaining accurate records of medications used and wasted during a procedure as well as accurate handling and labeling of specimens.

  • Successfully completes all One GI training requirements (i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, HealthStream, compliance, etc.)

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulatory requirements and/or guidelines. These requirements/guidelines include, but are not limited to: OSHA, HIPAA, Federal Fraud and Abuse laws.
  • Manage daily tasks to ensure business needs are consistently met.
  • Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize
  • Provide professional service to direct customers of One GI in all interactions.
  • Build effective working relationships with other team members.
  • Able to maintain standards and professionalism during periods of fluctuating workloads
  • Adopt the One GI culture of respect, integrity and accountability that contribute to an internal environment of teamwork and promote a positive brand image to our external customers.
  • Comply with One GI procedures, policies, and regulations relevant to your role. Undertake relevant training on One GI policies and procedures as delivered by your line manager
Education and Qualifications
  • Registered nurse. Membership in local, state, and national societies is encouraged. Maintains current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification and ACLS.
  • Priority setting, application of judgment, communication skill and tact.
  • Solid nursing background, concentration, or willingness to obtain advanced knowledge in GI specialty.

This role requires continuous activity levels in areas such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and reaching. It also requires dexterity in motion/flexibility.

This job operates in a clinic and procedure room environment. There is potential to be exposed to blood, tissue, and bodily fluids.
