Job Description

Position Summary

The major purpose of this position is to setup a quantum diamond microscope system for quantum-enabled bio-imaging applications. In particular, this includes integrating an optical tweezer system with a confocal microscope to address and detect nitrogen-vacancy centers in nanodiamonds for in-vivo thermometry in yeast cells.
The expected duration of this position is one year, though it may be extended.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect data from experiments.
  • Order lab supplies.
  • Present experiment results at conferences and seminars.
  • Conduct experiments and routine procedures.
  • Maintain records/reports.
  • Perform data analysis.
  • May contribute to design of experimental protocols and research.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Order/maintain chemical inventories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor/evaluate experiments.
  • Participate in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in optical experiment with confocal microscope and single photon detection.
  • Experience in optical experiment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics.
  • Knowledge in Quantum Mechanics.
  • Familiar with equipment control and data analysis software.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree or four years of equivalent education/experience in a laboratory or research setting.

R06-H

Salary Range

$16.08 - $25.12 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
