Job Description
Salary: $89,374 - $112,924 Grade: 25 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate with strong writing skills to fill a full-time position of Research Scientist III in the NYS Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence (CECC). The candidate needs to be fluent in both English and Spanish. The candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced research using mixed methods across a range of studies and evaluation projects. Duties and Responsibilities:


  • At least 3 years’ experience in analysis of quantitative and qualitative data RFMH employees may be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 depending on work location and must provide proof of vaccination. Individuals that are not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) or more weeks since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).   • Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of experience in research on evaluating and examining the effectiveness and implementation of interventions for various clinical populations of diverse backgrounds and +4 years of clinical expertise and experience working with high-risk populations in various settings. A master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, or Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
  • Participate in collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data including conducting both standardized and semi-structured interviews.
  • Engage and collaborate with cross-disciplinary researchers, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on the development of project protocols, semi-structured interview guides, surveys, databases, codebooks, and other materials.
  • Provide training and supervision to research assistants in implementation research and qualitative and mixed methods.
  • Assist with developing and implementing study designs and analytic plans across a range of research and evaluation projects.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with STATA, Atlas.Ti, or other statistical and qualitative software for data analysis preferred.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative methods to examine the development, adaptation, implementation, and effectiveness of interventions within mental health services addressing suicidality, health equity, and health promotion.
  • At least 5 years' experience in suicide prevention and intervention
  • At least 5 years’ combined experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods preferred.
  • English and Spanish fluency is required. Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years’ experience conducting research on community-based interventions preferred.
  • Prepare grant submissions to obtain research funding. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Utilize software for analysis of qualitative (e.g., Atlas.ti) and quantitative data (e.g., STATA)
  • Assist with tracking of project activities and timelines.
  • Prepare project reports, summaries, presentations, and manuscripts for publication
  • Assist principal investigators with IRB protocol development and reporting, and provide support with documentation of quality control practices and compliance with other regulations.
  • Conduct diagnostic and clinical psychiatric assessments as needed.
