Job Description
LAC Federal is seeking a skilled Research Librarian with a specialization in Nutrition to work a hybrid onsite/office position in Beltsville, MD for a major federal institution. The Research Librarian will provide support to an Evidence-Based Review Team to develop a systematic protocol for assessing the quality of scientific research to identify the Best Available Science. The Librarian will conduct comprehensive literature reviews of scientific literature and contribute to a database of high-quality scientific research in the field of Nutrition and related areas. responsible for providing research and reference services in the area of Nutrition. The successful candidate will work with library staff and health professionals to develop and promote the newest research initiatives and information resources. This is a full-time benefited position.


Responsibilities


  • Facilitate use of evidence review management software by agency stakeholders
  • Collaborate with library staff to evaluate and acquire the most current nutrition resources
  • Participate in professional organizations dedicated to nutrition and information resources
  • Conduct in-depth literature searches and compile a database of citations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in developing and implementing a systematic protocol to identify the Best Available Science
  • Participate in working group sessions and presentations on the project


Requirements


  • Knowledge of electronic resources such as PubMed, Cochrane Library and other nutrition databases
  • Excellent oral and communications skills
  • Experience with review management software, such as Covidence or Distiller SR
  • Experience supporting research in the topic areas of food, nutrition, food safety, andagriculture desired
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience supporting evidence reviews, including systematic and rapid reviews.
  • Master in Library Science (MLS or MLIS)
  • Knowledge and experience providing specialized library services focused on Nutrition
  • Experience with citation management software, such as Endnote or Zotero
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • An undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Health Sciences or Biological Sciences strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and coordinate innovative programs related to nutrition and health
  • Demonstrated expertise with a range of online databases in the topic areas of food, nutrition, food safety, agriculture, and health sciences
