Research Lab Manager

LRDC - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23004050)
Oversees day-to-day management and execution of multiple complex research projects and ensures compliance with all funding agencies and sponsors. Constructs data collection instruments and crafts promotional materials. Troubleshoots data and manages database. Assists with screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants. Performs budgetary and purchasing functions.
• This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences. • The primary duties of this Project Coordinator will be the data coordination and collection for a project centered around income, parenting, and perceptions of financial stress. We are particularly interested in family income and wealth, and associations with parental stress and behavior and adolescents’ perceptions of family socioeconomic status. This will involve the collection of multiple survey measures (using Qualtrics Surveys) about family income and wealth, parental functioning and behavior, and family demographics. Staff will recruit parents and children and collect self-report measures of family functioning and child behavioral problems. • For this work, specific duties include: - Recruiting, screening, scheduling and running research participants in the laboratory, as well as offsite - Organizing and analyzing data with statistical software - Operating computer systems - Supervising undergraduate research assistants - Contributing to research reports, grant proposals and presentations - Compiling and managing IRB submissions • The applicant should have an understanding of and experience with psychology or social work fields in order to contribute to conceptual discussions and research papers, possibly leading to authorship in publications from this project. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, strong proficiency using software such as Microsoft Office, and knowledge of statistical procedures are essential for applicants. • Qualifications include: B.A./B.S. in psychology, social work, sociology, nursing, urban studies, or related areas; excellent interpersonal skills especially working with low-income and underserved populations; knowledge of Pittsburgh communities; strong organizational abilities; 2-3 years research lab experience; understanding and experience of psychology and related fields, in order to contribute to conceptual discussions and research papers, possibly leading to authorship in resulting publications; strong proficiency using software such as Microsoft Office; knowledge of statistical procedures

Essential Functions Primarily mental and relational activities. Must view computers and other visual displays, use keyboards, and other manual instruments.
Physical Effort Must be able to move about between several offices and floors which are wheel-chair accessible, and to walk across campus (approximately 1/2 mile) to interact with other investigators and staff, deliver research-related documents and materials, etc. No heavy lifting or extended standing will be required. Ability to use telephone, clear verbal communication, use of computer keyboard and screen, mobility for conducting off-site data collection.
