Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to join the Cell Culture group within the BioProcess Development department at Seagen. The Cell Culture group develops processes to grow recombinant CHO cells to produce a robust supply of antibodies for biologics production. The Research Associate will perform experiments to help move molecules through cell culture process development and support development and implementation of a perfusion platform cell culture process to improve antibody production.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • All aspects of mammalian cell culture, including media preparation, culture initiation, and propagation of cells
  • Development and improvement of laboratory protocols
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies
  • Accurate and reliable record keeping including data management, batch records, laboratory notebooks, and all pertinent documentation
  • Performance of general laboratory tasks, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Performance of basic laboratory protocol studies, including sampling, basic calculations, and data analysis
  • Contribute to new technology evaluation
  • Work as part of a team as well as independently

Laboratory Experience:

  • Demonstrated and proficient skills in standard mammalian cell culture procedures and associated aseptic techniques is preferred but not required
  • Experience using basic laboratory equipment and carrying out routine laboratory tasks; knowledge of safe laboratory procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment
  • Associate’s degree or BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or other relevant area of scientific training and/or 2‐3 years relevant work experience consistent with the anticipated responsibilities detailed above
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and think critically and creatively
  • Applicant must be willing and able to work reliably on a flexible work schedule, Monday – Friday and some weekends, to meet the demands of the project/s

Desired Skills:

  • Experience using automation or high-throughput equipment is preferred
  • Relevant experience in the biotechnology industry or academic laboratory
  • Experience in bioreactor operation

The hiring pay range for this position is $65,500 to $79,800 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
