The Opportunity 

This position is a research assistant working at the bench and pilot plant to support the development strategy of the business.  People in this position will develop products/processes to enhance current products, derive new products and commercialize both for value addition to the business. This position will be an application and processing scientist working with a variety of protein products and processes and reports directly to the Senior R&D Manager.

• Develop innovative applications that utilize Glanbia’s ingredient portfolio
• Make presentations to sales, market, and business development personnel
• Operate and troubleshoot instruments and pilot equipment in our laboratories creating a more efficient R&D operations
• Take food and supplement formulations from bench-top to pilot plant scale
• Formulate nutritional bars and other applications to meet customers’ specifications
• Write reports in a clear, concise and meaningful way including interpretation of scientific data
• Plan and design robust experiments (experimental design) that can be statistically analysed and stand up under scientific scrutiny
• Review scientific literature and pull together potential solutions based on prior work
• Interface with R&D and PSM teams for commercialization of projects within the realm of responsibility
• Work with sales and PSM to support the customer through visits and/or phone calls to give technical assistance on customer-based projects

 The Skills you will bring to the team

• Must possess a Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) and a minimum of two years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
