Overview
T he Research Assistant I will support efforts of the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) Category II Treatment and Services Adaptation (TSA) Center grant entitled, the Collective for Antiracist Child and Family Systems (CACFS). This position will support the goal to transform child and family-serving systems by supporting organizations and providers to adopt antiracist, anti-oppressive practices to prevent trauma exposure and repair trauma effects among Black and Latinx children, youth, and families.
Responsibilities
EDUCATION:
T he Research Assistant I will support efforts of the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) Category II Treatment and Services Adaptation (TSA) Center grant entitled, the Collective for Antiracist Child and Family Systems (CACFS). This position will support the goal to transform child and family-serving systems by supporting organizations and providers to adopt antiracist, anti-oppressive practices to prevent trauma exposure and repair trauma effects among Black and Latinx children, youth, and families.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Project Coordinator of the NCTSI CACFS grant to prepare data required by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), including required data for the national performance measures.
- Work with leadership of the NCTSI CACFS grant to identify, review, revise and adapt existing assessments that measure antiracism and anti-oppression knowledge, skills, attitudes, and practices.
- Coordinate, attend, actively participate, and prepare for NCTSI CACFS team meetings.
- Responsible for research data management in accordance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protocols and requirements. Duties include but are not limited to data entry, processing, maintenance, and storage.
- Function as an essential member of the NCTSI research team in all aspects of work from data collection, to data analyses, to manuscript and grant preparation.
- Facilitate focus groups with providers to obtain feedback on the implementation of the three intervention models being examined in the NCTSI CACFS grant.
- Oversee recruitment efforts and collect and analyze data for the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) Collective for Antiracist Child and Family Systems (CACFS) grant.
- Assist with manuscript and grant preparation under the supervision NCTSI Project leadership.
- Notify the NCTSI Project Director or Project Coordinator within 24 hours of adverse responses or protocol deviations. Maintain documentation of adverse responses to study protocols and violations of IRB protocols.
EDUCATION:
- Coursework in statistics and/or human subjects research desirable.
- Master’s degree highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 1 year of related research experience required, to include managing clinical datasets in a research setting.
- Experience working with children with histories of abuse, neglect, and other adverse experiences preferred.
