SALARY: $22.00/HR - $34.74/HR


BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

To coordinate the billing and/or reimbursement processes for a health care services unit with regard to Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and related areas.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate the audit of claims/reimbursements/reports/etc. for Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, and related areas. Research patient record documentation and prepare letters to appeal adverse determinations in payment. Research reimbursement issues and writes responses to clarify or refute clinical decisions made by payers; keep appropriate staff and departments informed of applicable regulatory changes to billing and coding rules.
Prepare and/or perform special assignments/projects, conduct feasibility studies, and perform related financial and/or clinical analysis.
Work closely with other professionals and administrators, internal and external to the University, to resolve reimbursement issues. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of applicable computer software and procedures.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Direction is received from Manager.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Functional supervision may be exercised over professional and/or office support staff.


Qualifications


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in health care, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable
knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Two (2) years of experience in a reimbursement or health care related field.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
