Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU


This job is located in Spokane, WA


Shift: Day/Night (12hr Shifts)


As a PCU Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients who require close monitoring and interventions to prevent deterioration or complications. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to improving patient outcomes and ensuring high-quality care.


Responsibilities


  • Assess and monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygen levels.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing insights and collaborating on patient care plans.
  • Monitor and manage patients with post-surgical care needs, heart failure, cardiac catheterizations, and other complex medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education regarding their conditions, medications, and self-care after discharge.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth patient transitions from admission to discharge.
  • Act as a resource and support for less experienced staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe and clean patient environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care.
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to changes or abnormalities.


Requirements


  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and responding to changes promptly.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and provide compassionate care to patients with complex needs.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably in PCU or telemetry.
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
