The Medical Observation Unit is a 9 private bed unit. The unit will care for adult patients undergoing short-term observation for a variety of medical conditions including syncope, chest pain, hyperglycemia, dehydration, and mild asthma/COPD. The unit aims to provide an alternative to discharge or hospital inpatient admission for the emergency department patient who may benefit from an extended observation period (generally less than 72 hours). Patients who are not ill enough to warrant immediate inpatient hospital admission but are also not well enough to return to their place of residence may need additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation, and/or treatment in an observation unit prior to disposition.

Available Shifts: Rotating and Straight Nights
Qualifications and Education :
RN license in Maryland or compact state
CPR (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network)
Associates Degree in Nursing
BSN obtain within 4 years of hire
Previous experience as a patient care tech or student nurse tech is helpful;
