Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista provides a variety of medical and surgical services, including inpatient and outpatient care. Located less than 10 miles from the US-Mexico border, Scripps Mercy serves the cities of Chula Vista, Otay Mesa, National City, Imperial Beach, Bonita and beyond.

We invite you to join our Labor and Delivery team as Registered Nurse.

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery provides direct patient care within the scope of his/her practice.

  • The RN takes primary responsibility for the patients' care as delivered by the Care Team under his/her supervision.
  • Patient care includes assessment, planning and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.

This is a Casual/Per-Diem position with a 12-hour day shift schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Located at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista.

Preferred Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification/Education:
  • 2 years’ experience within a Labor & Delivery unit preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • 1-year experience in Labor and Delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification from AWHONN or NCC
  • Current CA RN License
  • Current BLS-C provider
  • Current Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (AAP-7th or AAP-8th edition accepted)

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

  • Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met

  • Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
  • Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
  • Must remain in original department/specialty
  • Must remain in original Job Title
