Job Description

Reporting directly to the Regional Business Director (RBD) – The Regional Training Manager (RTM) will support the building of restaurant leaders technical and soft skills competencies by providing and conducting regular and effective training at the region, market, restaurant and franchise group levels as assigned by the RBD. Solving for a wide range of operational issues, IHOP SOP non-compliance and other concerns as elevated by regional leadership, IHOP leadership and franchisees.
In coordination with the Restaurant Support Center (RSC) based training design team, RTMs will align around, support and deliver training curriculums and lead both high-touch and low-touch training designed to cascade a variety of programs, promotions, menu and brand initiatives. At times, the RTM will be tasked with modifying RSC based training content or developing customized content as needed by the region and directed by the RBD.
This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong lines of communication with all regional partners, franchisees, and their points of contact around the adoption and effective use of brand training philosophies, programs, and systems within their assigned region. The RTM will serve as a conduit for franchisees, their point of contact and the IHOP region team around best practices, data and reporting related to training and sharing out to all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and facilitates IHOP new hire training and development within assigned region.
  • Meet regularly with RSC based training team to align around curriculums, programs, and systems.
  • RTM will partner with regional leadership to ensure proper execution of all new restaurant openings (NRO) training processes, systems, and standards via engagement during and after NROs.
  • Acts as liaison to franchisee community to identify additional training needs across the enterprise.
  • Serves as a training program subject matter expert with-in the region.
  • Partner with RBD to modify, customize or develop incremental training plans or content.
  • Supports and drive special projects as directed by the RBD and or in conjunction with RSC leadership.
  • Conducts in-person and web-based region, market, restaurant and franchisee level training programs, seminars, and curriculums designed to develop both technical operations skill and soft skills of franchisee restaurant and above restaurant leaders.
  • Participate in key franchisee business planning and reviews as coordinated by the RBD.
  • Supports new franchisee training as directed by the RBD.
  • Supports, coordinates logistics and leads core menu and other high touch cascade training rollouts.
  • Assists in the preparation and presentation of operation meetings and/or to franchisees when needed.
  • Participate in regional calls and meetings as well as regular 1 on 1’s with RBD and RSC training team to ensure alignment and plans for execution.
  • Responsible for ensuring region adoption of brand training programs, standards, systems, and procedures. Ensures franchisees and their POC’s understand company training process and systems.
  • Algin with the RBD, FBCs and OC’s around the prioritization and deployment of training within the region
  • Coaches, trains, and develops franchisees certified trainers providing support for franchisee led training classes, seminars, and working sessions.

  • Salary Range $100,000-$110,000

  • 3 to 5 years of field training experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to determine and apply methodologies for effective learning.
  • 5 years of restaurant management or multi-unit management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work cross functionally to identify risk, problem solve and create efficient processes.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and opportunities and articulate findings & recommendations.
  • Exercises good judgment in decision making.
  • Strong operational experience, with proven ability to influence and coach effectively across a wide range of stakeholders including franchisees, GM’s, Multi-unit leaders.
