Job Summary


Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) has a new and exciting opportunity for a Recreation Therapy Practice & Professional Development Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will ensure staff are trained and engaged at the top of their certification as well as provide backup coverage of recreation therapy services. The individual will also assist in outreach to help attract, recruit, and retain future recreation therapists.

MHSATS provides mental health and substance abuse services in inpatient hospitals, residential and outpatient settings across greater Minnesota. Sites include Community Behavioral Health Hospitals (CBHH), Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (CABHS), Community Addiction Recovery Enterprise (CARE), The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC), and Minnesota Specialty Health Systems (MSHS).

*The work location will be determined by the chosen applicants' current location and will be required to travel statewide*

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Park/Recreation, Physical Education, or related field
  • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the NCTC; or eligible to become certified as a CTRS
  • Three years of professional experience as a Recreation Therapist with responsibility for developing group and individual therapeutic recreation, and monitoring and evaluation of client progress.
