Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the direct supervision of employees in assigned area of responsibility. The Supervisor is also accountable for 1) the safety and the safety behavior of the employees they manage and 2) the safety of the workspaces they manage.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Safety

The Supervisor plays an integral role in the Perma-Pipe Zero Incidents Safety Culture by:

  • Conducting scheduled safety inspections/audits and developing or directing the related corrective actions
  • Each Perma-Pipe employee is taking responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those who work around them.
  • Contributing to the Perma-Pipe Safety Observation card system by reporting all observed hazards
  • Rewarding and encouraging pro-active programs (as defined as the leading indicators) that eliminate the possibly of employee injuries before they can happen.
  • Conveying the message to all employees that safety, quality and production are all equally important: All work tasks to be completed without injury or the possibility of injury, all tasks shall 100% conform to the customers and Perma-Pipes specifications and work instructions, and all tasks need to be completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Impressing to all employees that your expectation (your vision) is a Zero Incident workplace where:
    • Each Perma-Pipe employee is taking responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those who work around them.
    • Each Perma-Pipe employee is speaking up when they see something unsafe, and this unsafe condition gets attention.
    • Each Perma-Pipe employee is choosing to follow safety rules because they want to, not because they have to.
  • Actively participating in the Perma-Pipe Safety Management System by:
    • Conducting scheduled safety inspections/audits and developing or directing the related corrective actions
    • Reviewing and training all employees on Hazard Level Assessments (HLA)/Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and assists in the development of this hazard assessments.
    • Reporting all injuries and near misses, and participating in injury/near miss investigations and the related corrective actions
  • Reviewing and training all employees on Hazard Level Assessments (HLA)/Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and assists in the development of this hazard assessments.
  • Each Perma-Pipe employee is speaking up when they see something unsafe, and this unsafe condition gets attention.
  • Each Perma-Pipe employee is choosing to follow safety rules because they want to, not because they have to.
  • Reporting all injuries and near misses, and participating in injury/near miss investigations and the related corrective actions
  • Conducting and attending safety meetings, including regularly scheduled toolbox talks.

Supervision

  • Assumes responsibility for control and efficient use of material and supplies.

  • Additional paperwork such as cycle counts and interacting with the material analyst, buyers, production, etc. will be part of your daily routine.

  • Responsible for receiving orders from vendors and/or shipping products to customers.

  • As a receiving foreman, you are also responsible for entering receivable orders into ERP along with providing the material handlers instruction and guidance throughout the day in order to keep the production areas stocked with raw goods.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING:

Responsible for direct supervision of employees in assigned area. Reports to Materials Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associates/Technical or Bachelors Degree in business or related field or 1-2 years relevant experience

EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years relevant experience

QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENT: 1-2 years manufacturing experience, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, some computer knowledge, work well in a team environment

FOREMAN RESPONSIBILITES: Responsible for direct supervision of employees in assigned area of responsibility.

TRAVEL: Rarely

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: computer, manufacturing equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • Standing for sustained periods of time
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • The ability to work in extreme weather
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in manufacturing environment. This position may require to work overtime on an as needed basis.
