Position Description


The React Developer is responsible for front-end development of a new web-based application as well as the ongoing support of the application in the production environment. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).


Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of experience as a React Developer


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field


Essential Skills/Qualifications


  • Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Nightwatch) (preferred)
  • Experience with DevOps and continuous build continuous deployment processes and tools
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of architecture styles and APIs (e.g., SOAP, REST, RPC)
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and accessibility compliance (preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of regression testing (preferred)
  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
  • Knowledge of Agile frameworks (preferred)
  • Experience with React
  • Expert ability to work effectively in a team and with clients
  • Ability to understand front end user requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of modern source control systems (e.g., Git, Gyn, Mercurial)
  • Strong understanding of modern web design (e.g., HTML5, CSS3)
  • Expert experience with programming languages and technologies (e.g., Java, Typescript or JavaScript, CSS, HTML, XML)
  • Experience implementing UX/UI requirements using responsive frameworks and design systems


Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust


  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years


Federal Civilian Public Trust Consists of a review of up to but not limited to:


  • Law enforcement check
  • FBI name check
  • National Agency Check (NAC) records
  • Potential interviews with the subject, spouse, neighbors, supervisor, coworkers
  • Court records check
  • Covers 5-10 year period and in some instances lifetime events
  • Written inquiries to previous employers and references listed on the application for employment
  • FBI fingerprint check
  • DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)
  • OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)
  • Education check- Attendance and Degrees
  • Credit report check


Tasks/activities Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Collaborates with internal teams to produce software design and architecture
  • Participates in requirements analysis
  • Participates in Agile SCRUM ceremonies including Story Point Estimation, Backlog Grooming, Sprint/Release Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Performs Unit Testing and deploys applications and systems
  • Writes clean, scalable code based on requirements and design
  • Revises, updates, refactors and debugs code
  • Improves existing software
  • Develops documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Serves as an expert on applications and provide technical support
