World Centric is a leader in providing innovative environmentally friendly packaging solutions for the food service industry. We are looking for a motivated engineering technician to help take our offerings to the next level as well as enter new product channels.

This position will work with the product development and R&D teams to design, prototype, and test various packaging solutions using a variety of testing methods and equipment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter that is eager to solve new challenges that will take on projects with a high level of autonomy.

This role will be located at our site in Stone Mountain, GA (greater Atlanta metro area). This position will report to the director of product development and engineering with normal working hours.

Essential Responsibilities for Mechanical Engineering Technician

• Documents industry standards such as ASTM, ISO, and ISTA needed for specific packaging applications.
• Tests packaging prototypes and finished products for thickness, dimensions, leakage, lid fit, barrier properties, tensile strength, compression, thermal conductivity, shelf life and other tests as required for specific packaging applications.
• Assists R&D engineers and scientists to make prototypes using industrial tools such as 3D printing, compression molding, thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding, film sealing, coating, etc.
• Maintains detailed documentation of testing results and catalogs all samples.
• Works with engineers to fabricate, assemble, and test prototype setups.
• Procures industry available materials for comparative testing and documents published thermal and barrier properties of these materials.
• Research appropriate third party testing labs and quotes for external testing.

Requirements:

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience for Product Testing Engineer

• Good analytical and computational skills - using excel, creating graphs, and performing calculations, etc.
• Experience prototyping using various processes such as 3D printing, compression molding, thermoforming, hand tools, coating, etc.
• High attention to detail and good organization skills.
• BS or associates degree in technical field.
• Proficient communication skills including ability to present concepts for review.
• Experience with mechanical, thermal, or other analytical testing equipment.
• Minimum 1-3+ years related hands on experience using prototyping and testing equipment

Physical Logistics for Mechanical Engineering Technician

On-site full time role with flexibility to work remote when it makes sense.
