Position Requirements:
Must be a graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology
3 to 5 years experience as a General Radiographer~ Preferred
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to interact with customers from all levels
Proficient in the operation of radiographic equipment including fluoroscopy, C~arms, and portable machines.
IEMA accreditation in medical radiation technology
CPR certified
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered (ARRT)
Must be able to make independent professional decisions pertaining to high quality patient care
High degree of technical skills
Must be able to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities
Must be conscientious in practicing high quality patient care
Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week
Radiation exposure
Must be able to deal with extremely ill patients
Ability to lift and/or move patients. Heavy lifting: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
Must be able to work in a fast~paced environment with established time constraints
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life~threatening diseases.
This position can recognize needs and behaviors of the following age groups: pediatric (newborn, toddler, and school~age), adolescent, adult, and older adult.
Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Purpose:
Coordinates daily Interventional Radiographic procedures. Gathers the necessary supplies as well as prepare both the room and the patients for invasive and non~invasive procedures in accordance with departmental protocols. Assists in the monitoring of the well being of the patient and prepares all necessary documentation as required. Oversees nurse and technologist activity to ensure a comprehensive team atmosphere to provide quality patient care while ensuring all radiation safety standards are observed.
Accountabilities:
Determination of appropriate supplies and equipment set up, necessary to perform special procedures exams. The special procedures technologist II is able to give clear direction to technologists and students. The technologist is to actively promote a positive and professional team effort to increase customer satisfaction.
Operation of more advanced and sophisticated radiographic equipment.
Adherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality patient care and train staff in proper safety measures.
Keeps the department equipped, monitors vendors for possible savings, monitors and performs necessary QC, and good basic interpersonal skills
Provide instruction and orientation to patients and other staff.
Make appropriate independent decisions when Lead Technologist and Manager are not available
