    Job Definition

    SCOPE OF POSITION
    The Radiologic Technologist, Non-Registered will assist and perform duties in the diagnostic imaging department. This individual will ensure patient safety, assist technologists during patient procedures, collect films, locate folders, interact with physicians, coordinate workflow, answer telephone, and transport or request patients to be transported. The individual may administer roentgen rays to patients with supervision by a registered technologist. This individual will evaluate the order, assess the patient, operate X-ray equipment, develop film, prepare patient's room, clean equipment, stock and utilize supplies and medications. The incumbent may provide patient services using imaging modalities.

    The Radiologic Technologist will correlate and integrate radiologic aspects of care for all patients age ranging from neonate to geriatrics. Additionally, the Technologist will follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays (adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time distance; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patients; adjust lead shields; and selects proper film). The Technologist will practice radiation safety.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Is attending a radiologic technology program recognized by The American College of Radiology and completing their base training in a hospital setting. Upon completion of the radiologic technology program the candidate is given three attempts or one year to pass the ARRT registry.
