Job Description

Quantity & Material Tracker – Kingsport, TN

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Interface with upper management, project management, engineering and construction departments on project support needs.
  • Research tools and materials to identify purchase options and delivery dates.
  • Experience performing Industrial Projects (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial)
  • Maintain the Material Tracking Database to calculate burn rates and provide weekly updates.
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite experience REQUIRED.
  • Complete Purchase Requisitions and submit for approval.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Prepare, update and issue reports for management.
  • Must be able to operate some equipment (Forklift, Etc.) for loading and unloading material.
  • Support field supervision and project management by placing orders, scheduling meetings, tracking material, and performing data entry.
  • Maintains inventory levels to ensure appropriate materials are on hand.
  • Identify materials needed based on work documents and blueprints.
  • Works with multiple departments to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Site Manager, the Materials Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and equipment according to project needs.

Additional Functions

  • Material take-off, purchasing and expediting.
  • Read and interpret construction specifications.
  • Provide input and updates to scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Firm knowledge of construction, Maintenance project in Industrial setting.
  • Organizational & detailed-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage differing needs of the business.
  • Ability to multi-task working within a team structure and independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with executive level internal & external clients.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project
  • Capable of handling multiple projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong drive for results and be able to multi-task in a high stress environment as well as to coordinate with various departments in accomplishing required projects and tasks.
  • Industrial Construction experience of 2-years or more.

Requirements:

  • Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site.
  • Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor.
  • Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers/printers/scanners/fax machines, phones, filing cabinets, etc. Employee must have the ability to transport necessary equipment and supplies and set-up for meetings, etc. The employee must have a current driver’s license and have the ability to travel to various locations at times for various reasons.
