What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Manager of Quality Engineering to serve as the technical leader and manager of an engineering and operations team focused on improving quality at our production factory in Buffalo, NY. The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing, inspiring, and developing a team made up of Associate Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians. The Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their direct reports, and takes pride in their hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.
What You’ll Do
- Organize and prioritize work with minimal guidance and manage projects in a timely and effective manner
- Develop, implement, and maintain standards and procedures as part of the Tesla Quality Management System
- Establish, monitor status to internal and external quality performance metrics and drive continuous improvement
- Guide form, fit, function, manufacturability, and durability through input at program development stages
- Present performance metrics and status of critical issues to executive management
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage an engineering team focused on driving continuous improvement and an operations team focused on daily operations, simultaneously
What You’ll Bring
- Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- 10+ years of experience in product quality, quality system or program quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or automotive engineering related, or equivalent experience.
- Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances
- Proven ability to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
- Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
- 5+ years of experience in Quality leadership with focus on production lines
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience Root Cause Analysis, and Statistical Analysis
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment
- Strong interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all business levels and functions of both internal Manufacturing and Supplier relations
