Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer will help improve quality standards and performance level of the business utilizing statistical methods and information for quality improvement by identifying rejection trend patterns and improving inspection and testing methods or sampling. This position reports to the Director, Quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recommend, and implement continuous process improvements for all product design releases, prototype production, and flow line production to achieve the highest product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct and document detailed root cause analyses and corrective actions for product or process deficiencies utilizing the 5 why tool or other applicable RCCA tools.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical competence related to electronics and electromechanical box build product assembly manufacturing technology, focusing on consistent quality and reliability.
  • Represent quality assurance on new product development teams to ensure a smooth transition to production.
  • Lead root cause investigations of non-conformances and customer requests for corrective action and assist with the MRB process to achieve timely dispositions working with engineering, operations, and supply chain.
  • Participate in product and process design reviews using DFMEA/PFMEA, Verification/Validation plans/ templates, and other applicable design tools. Help teach and coach production employees in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and wire diagrams.
  • Provide supplier quality engineering support such as issuance and support for supplier corrective actions and performing supplier surveys or audits.
  • Perform contract reviews for new customers/products by reviewing purchase orders, specifications, and other customer requirements.
  • Other quality-related duties as assigned.
  • Collect inspection and reliability data to track results of quality measurement systems to ensure continuous improvements in product design and operational processes.
  • Review product documentation packages to comply with customer or government contract requirements, especially DLA or DCMA requirements, and provide source inspection support.
  • Help identify production line bottlenecks; communicate to the management team. Continuously identifies areas for improvement and presents project opportunities to management.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Engineering with an understanding of advanced power electronics technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma). Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality Engineering/Quality Assurance
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management System (ISO9001, AS9100) requirements
  • Manufacturing experience in box build technology.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding Minitab or other statistical software packages for trend analysis and problem-solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Quality Management experience
  • IPC 600, IPC 610, and IPC 620 requirements
  • Internal auditing experience
  • Ability to prepare reports and present data to the Management team or key customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
