About the job
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for building quality assurance processes across the company, monitoring and evaluating internal production processes and examining products to determine their quality. The Quality Engineer will be the primary quality contact, and will be responsible for handling corrective actions, survey requests, auditing activities, and all other requests in a timely manner.
In addition, the Quality Engineer will be the management representative regarding implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System in accordance with requirements. This will include involvement in auditing processes by internal and external sources to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system, and taking appropriate actions when issues are found. The Quality Engineer will support, and maintain quality systems and training related to sales and repairs of aftermarket activity. The Quality Engineer will serve as liaison with external regulators.
Responsibilities
- Produce statistical reports against quality standards
- Inspire, direct, and lead technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities
- Design and develop quality control processes
- Help source materials and inspect shipments
- Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions
- Conduct failure analysis evaluation, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation
- Ability to work hands-on performing inspections personally as well as work at a high level overseeing a highly functioning team
- Prepare and present technical and program information to the management team
- Implement and maintain a quality management program
- Examine the quality of raw materials that are used in production
- Monitor and evaluate internal production processes
- Evaluate final output of products and address those that fail quality standards
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards
Qualifications
- A background working in startups, technology or manufacturing industry is preferred
- Prior experience as a Design Engineer is a plus
- Keen judgment, make sound independent decisions, and know when to escalate
- Experience developing and managing quality plans
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.5 years of work experience in quality, mechanical and electro-mechanical design or equivalent
- Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency, good organizational and time management skills
- Experience developing composites, medical, aerospace, and/or transportation products for consumer use is preferred
- Prior experience as a Quality Engineer desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of quality assurance standards
- Product life-cycle management experience a plus
- ASQ certification is a plus.
