Job Description

The Quality Control Inspector 2 will work closely with the Quality Control Inspector 1, NDE Technicians, and the Quality Manager to assure all jobs are inspected correctly and without delay in job schedule and ensuring Armstrong's fabrication meets all applicable standards and certifications.


REPORTS TO:QC Manager and gets direction from QC Inspector 1


Responsibilities

· QC check production floor (such as: fit-ups, welding, dimensions, machining, etc.)

· Check MTR for material acceptance

· Perform Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Visual Testing, & Magnetic Particle Examinations

· Perform PMI, Hardness, Ferrite, Soapy Bubble, and Air Leak Testing

· Supervise hydrotesting & helium leak testing

· Document all inspections and tests as required

· Work with visiting customer inspectors when required

· Take pictures of jobs and their progress

· Prepare inspection reports for repair jobs

· Generate NCRs

· Issue National Board Numbers and R numbers (keep logbooks)

· Call the Al to set ASME Code inspections

· Contact engineering / PM Group for resolution of shop questions

· Make sure all required ASME documentation is available to the Authorized Inspector

· Make & attach nameplates when needed

· Order inspection & testing consumables when needed

· Travel within reason for vendor or customer support

· Maintain current certifications by continuing education and re-examinations


Qualifications:


EDUCATION:A high school diploma or GED. Relevant experience in inspection activities is required.


EXPERIENCE:3+ years’ experience in related metal fabrication processes and equipment is essential, as is knowledge of NDE and applicable quality standards such as ASME. ASNT-TC-1A Level II in one or more of the following NDE Methods is desirable: MT, PT, VT, RT, UT.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

· Deep knowledge of metal fabrication equipment, manufacturing, materials of construction, and applicable testing and certifications.

· Must have good communication skills on technical subjects with engineers, customer representatives and shop employees.

· Knowledge of ASME BPVC including ASME Section II, Section V, Section VIII, and Section IX.

· Good computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software. Knowledge and ability to learn other applications as needed such as M files.

· ASNT-TC-1A Level II in one or more of the following NDE Methods is desirable: MT, PT, VT, RT, UT


Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Overtime (weekdays and weekends) on occasion
  • Monday to Friday
