Fermilab’s Office of Quality Assurance seeks an Issues Management Program Coordinator. QA is seeking a highly motivated quality, safety, or program management professional to support the continuous improvement of the Laboratory’s Issues Management Program. This role will support the Issues Management Program Manager and be a subject matter expert for the Issues Management Program, its processes, and integration with other key processes.
You Will:
  • Lead QA Assessment activities in various areas and conduct Effectiveness Reviews.
  • Apply a graded approach to the implementation of quality controls.
  • Contribute effectively within a diverse workforce, and uphold Fermilab’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, risk analysis, and generate recommendations for effective issue resolution.
  • Perform data trending and analysis to identify areas where a targeted review/assessment may be necessary.
  • Provide input into solving challenges of varying scope and complexity.
  • Provide training and ongoing guidance to line organizations on implementing Issues Management Program requirements and use of the internal issues management system (iTrack).
  • Conduct data and trends analyses to identify opportunities to improve local or systematic processes.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance the Assessment and Issues Management Programs.
  • Provide support for the Office of Contractor Assurance and its various functions.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Assessment and Issues Management Programs and report to the Issues Management Program Manager.
  • Proactively collaborate, support, and advise Fermilab staff in the areas of assessment planning/execution and issues management.

We Are Looking For:
  • Minimum required Education and Experience: bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, project management, or relevant field with 5+ years of prior experience
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people within a cross-functional team of diverse talents.
  • Demonstrated ability to document procedures and related implementation plans.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of and interpret specific government agency requirements (statutes, regulations, licenses, and permits) and lab policies.
  • Experience with the overall management of organizational issues, non-conformances, and/or and associated corrective action planning and mitigations.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation and training skills in a variety of settings and with a range of audiences – including one-on-one, small and large groups, peers, senior leadership, and internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Essential requirements in one of the following areas: quality assurance, auditing/assessment, causal analysis, and DOE Contractor Assurance System (CAS) implementation.
  • Preferred/desired skills: knowledge of databases; causal analysis, data analysis, risk analysis, knowledge of US Department of Energy Orders and guidance documents.
  • Working knowledge of the scientific and technical aspects of various regulatory requirements and potential impact on assigned work area(s).
