Job Description

Are you a Quality Assurance - Materials Technician looking for an opportunity to grow in a clean and safe foundry environment? If so, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based at our South Milwaukee, WI facility. In this role, you will assist in ensuring the coordination, management, and development of the quality assurance activities required to support, evaluate, audit, control, and document all quality assurance functions throughout the operation. If you have quality and materials experience in a foundry but still pursuing your degree, we can assist with our tuition reimbursement program. If you have a degree with foundry quality and metallurgy education, we can assist in getting you the experience.

AS THE QA - MATERIALS TECHNICIAN YOU WILL:

  • Assist quality manager / metallurgical engineer in material evaluation, trials, and product recipes.
  • Assist in reviewing, evaluating, and correcting issues with nonconforming material, including both internal issues as well as customer complaints.
  • Assist in overseeing daily lab functions and evaluating lab results for process adjustments.
  • Assist management in the metallurgical test functions for the operation by working with other technical staff in planning testing, evaluation of test results and investigation of test failures.
  • Assist in writing new and updating existing work instructions, and forms.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Understanding of statistical controls and root cause analysis
  • Engineering experience and a strong understanding of foundry processes, materials, and equipment
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Basic computer skills with advanced proficiency in Excel for data analytics

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Experience with cast iron metallurgy
  • Experience with 3d modeling and simulation software: SolidWorks, MAGMA, etc
  • Strong analytical skills and possess the ability to enforce company policy and make good decisions independently
