Job Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Leadership

  • Seen as the go-to QA person for your assigned value stream (end-to-end).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with many levels across the organization.
  • Review work output of assigned project and product resources.
  • Establish cross-functional relationships with peer groups such as development, program management, product management, etc.
  • Oversee and provide feedback on offshore delivery, working with onsite leads.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and feedback to resources on the team.

2. QA Processes and Standards

  • Performance: ability to communicate and elicit Non-Functional Requirements.
  • Understanding and ability to present QA strategy to product and project teams.
  • Expert understanding of QA processes, standards, and templates. This means ability to complete QA deliverables and train others on the same.
  • Understanding available tools and usage to meet QA deliverables.
  • Provide continuous improvement opportunities as found.

3. Product and Project Deliverables

  • Schedule and run Defect Review Board (DRB) daily or as needed.
  • Own creation and review of end-to-end test plan, including front end and back-end systems, or performance.
  • Provide resource/work estimation for projects from an end-to-end view.
  • Provide risk analysis, management, and escalation as necessary.
  • Create and provide weekly test status.
  • Attend change management meetings.
  • Attend PI and sprint planning/grooming sessions and perform requirement auditor function.
  • Able to provide requirement traceability.
  • Provide test sign off for project.

4. Metrics

  • Provide data for input into monthly QA scorecard.
  • Analyze defect leakage, provide root cause analysis and improvement plans.
  • Understand and be able to produce tactical project and program metrics for value stream.

5. Additional Responsibilities

  • Devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations.
  • Tests software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects and/or system performance including scalability and load testing.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in areas of test development and test management.
  • Creates and executes various testing documentation (including plans, conditions, and scripts) based on technical and user requirements:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains Test Script Library and/or performance test results.
  • Writes and maintains test automation.
  • Ensures adequate product testing, in accordance with established standards and requirements, prior to implementation.
  • Performs regression testing.
  • Exhibits business knowledge and builds strong customer relationships.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role.
  • Experience leading ambiguous situations, dealing with technical issues, and coming up with effective solutions to ensure customer project deliverables.
  • Databases: RDBMS (Oracle, SQL), No-SQL a plus
  • Strong Communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • SDLC Process – Implementing process and best practices
  • Experience with Agile/Test management tools, for example Rally or Jira.
  • 7+ years of QA testing experience with industry standard quality assurance methodologies
  • Familiarity with test Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development a plus
  • ISTQB Foundation level certification preferred
  • Must be detail oriented and creative thinker
  • 3+ years of experience in a coordination role, preferably as a QA Lead
  • Experience coordinating resource delivery on multiple projects Onsite / Offshore model
  • Ability to develop and leverage strategic business relationships across the organization and externally.
  • Experience with tools & applications such as Jenkins and Git is a plus
  • Experience with Test processes, open-source test frameworks, test design strategies, writing test cases, and automating tests in Selenium, Katalon Studio, Java or Groovy is preferred
  • Strong Insurance Knowledge, Property and Casualty preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent educational and/or work experience
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to analyze complex problems in large systems.
  • Experience with API Testing a plus
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated desire to learn new technologies and the ability to adapt to new operating models and changing business requirements.
