The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) – Central Office is seeking a motivated and experienced candidate to join our team as a Qualified Craft Worker (HVACR).

Position Highlights:
- The position will be located within the Maintenance Unit with DDS's Fiscal Division based out of Newington, CT.
- Position will be working out of Newington but will require traveling statewide to support other locations.
- However, must be flexible in order to meet the needs of the agency.
- Full Time (75 hours/biweekly)
- Regular Days Off: Saturday & Sunday
- Monday - Friday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
The Role:
Most of the equipment and systems will be of a residential or light commercial type.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operates, maintains, repairs, installs, modifies and assembles air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems which may use Freon or chilled water for air cooling means and air or water for condenser means.
- Determines required cooling capacity of units needed for small areas.
- Performs highly skilled tasks in accordance with standard HVACR trade practices and codes on air systems used in heating, ventilating and refrigeration.
- Controls and measures air flow, room air changes and room pressurizing.
- Monitors computerized control systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products including but not limited to Office365, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience with Automated Building Controls within HVAC field.
- Experience with scheduling work and prioritizing duties.
- Possess and retain a State of Connecticut S1 or an S2 Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling Journeyperson license along with an EPA 608 Technician Certification.
- Experience performing the full range of licensed HVACR job duties and tasks.
- Experience researching and preparing project scopes using specific HVACR components, training modules and vendor material quotes and invoices.
- Experience communicating (orally and in writing) daily duties to direct supervisors, vendors, utility companies, State Inspectors, and private contractors.
