Job Description

Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Louisville, KY

5 month contract

$22.50/hr


Description:

Performing all laboratory testing for the Dispersions departments.

Batch Data entry into SAP.

Performing Analytical Trends in Minitab.

Completing work instructions for the plant operators and providing Group Leaders with copies.

Ensuring housekeeping is maintained at appropriate levels.

Performing many customer service activities, such as analysis of returned material and answering customer complaints.

Coordinating re-work, ensuring old materials are incorporated where possible.

Completing RCRA (Hazardous Waste) and OSHA safety training.

Completing Laboratory Technician training.

Performing tasks to comply with ISO regulations, including ISO program.

Understands Responsible Care and Quality Policies and performs job responsibilities safely by following documented work procedures and instructions, while keeping in mind the environmental aspects and their potential impacts.

Providing coverage for other QC Lab Techs taking vacation.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Chemistry, or other related technical field and 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Experience in the pigment, coatings, colorant and/or color industry and understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts

Must be a self-starter and possess excellent organizational skills

Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions

Ability to apply operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis for variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

High level of computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, e-mail, inventory and production systems, and other in-house systems as required
