Job Overview:
As a QA & Food Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of food products throughout the supply chain. Your role will involve implementing and maintaining robust GFSI certified quality assurance and food safety programs, conducting audits and inspections, and providing guidance and support to internal teams and external suppliers. You will play a crucial role in upholding food safety standards and regulatory requirements, fostering strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance (QA) Program Management:
- Implement, and maintain GFSI certified program.
- Establish quality standards, specifications, and procedures to ensure product consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements and resolve quality-related issues.
- Conduct regular internal audits to monitor adherence to quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
Food Safety Compliance:
- Stay updated on food safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive food safety management system, including Food Safety Plan, HACCP plans and and recall protocols.
- Conduct food safety risk assessments and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
Supplier Management:
- Collaborate with suppliers to address non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of quality and food safety issues.
- Establish supplier performance metrics, conduct supplier audits, and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Evaluate and approve suppliers based on their ability to meet quality and food safety standards.
Training and Communication:
- Provide training and education to internal teams on quality standards, food safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to address inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure compliance.
- Foster a culture of quality and food safety awareness throughout the organization.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement best practices, and monitor the effectiveness of improvement measures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience in quality assurance and food safety management within the food industry, preferably in a brokerage or agent setting.
- Knowledge of GFSI Protocols including supplier management, auditing, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- Certification in food safety (e.g., Certified Food Safety Manager, HACCP) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and industry standards (e.g., GFSI, FDA, FSMA).
