This position will initially be based in Greensboro, NC during plant construction and transition to Liberty, NC upon completion.

Who We’re Looking For


Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Buying Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Purchasing Analyst. For this early in career opportunity, a successful candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree and 6 months to up to 2 years of professional experience, including internship and co-op experience, in the areas of analyzing financials, data or product/ service costs, to recommend a cost-effective business solution. They will have hands on proficiency in MS Excel function and strong communication skills.


The primary responsibility of this role is to develop sourcing strategies, perform cost analysis and develop standards to ensure our Supplier Partners are compensated fairly while maintaining Toyota’s competitive advantage through its North American supply chain.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Lead Annual Price Review activities with suppliers to promote deep understanding of cost drivers with a focus on Manufacturing Improvement.
  • Develop sourcing strategies, which result in supply base optimization
  • Negotiate with supplier partners for cost savings and avoidance utilizing competitive bench-marking of detailed cost elements and analysis of cost variance
  • Participate in early design work to optimize the part design / manufacturing environment through Value Engineering
  • Understand and analyze respective commodity market trends to ensure Toyota is using the right Supplier Partner and technologies
  • Execute strategy and work closely with buyers on other commodities to ensure all targets, and due dates are met
  • Establish & assess cost standards to reach a consistent, efficient approach to pricing, including timely payment issuance
  • Report accurately and on time to all project milestones including reporting up through top management on creation of target & achievement to such target, including identifying and negotiating all design changes


What You Bring


  • Experience with gap analysis and identification of trends in data sets
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Working experience with Microsoft Excel (including copy/paste, filters, graphs)
  • 6 months to 2 years of professional experience, could be via an internship or co-op, analyzing financials, data or product or service costs, to recommend a cost-effective business solution


Added bonus if you have


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
  • Professional experience in a direct buying role, including responsibility for analysis and negotiation of product and manufacturing cost
  • Japanese language skill
  • Working experience with Power BI (including data importation, slicer manipulation, report creation)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
