Job Overview


The Psychometrist is responsible for administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a licensed clinical neuropsychologist. This role administers testing protocols, accommodates behavioral and developmental needs of patients with a variety of medical conditions and documents behavioral observations during the assessment.

Hours per week: 36, eligible for benefits
Shift: 4, 9 hour shifts per week.

Qualifications

  • CERTIFICATION(S) – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field such as special education, speech-language pathology or child development
  • Bilingual Preferred

Responsibilities


POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • Adolescent- >13 yrs to 18 yrs
  • Pre-schoolers- > 3 yrs to 5 yrs
  • Infancy- > 30 days to 1 yr
  • Toddlers- > 1 yr to 3 yrs
  • School age-> 5yrs to 13 yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Manages difficult testing and psychosocial situations and accommodates behavioral and developmental needs of patients with a variety of medical conditions.
  • Administers and scores neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a licensed clinical neuropsychologist. These might be verbal, written, visual or physical tests, depending on the patient's condition.
  • Provides written or verbal summary of the patient’s behavior during testing, including any interactions with patient’s parents or peers that may be observed incidentally.
  • Adapts the administration of test to the specific needs of each patient while staying within the standardized procedures set forth for each specific test
  • Assists in training new neuropsychology externs, interns, research assistants and fellows, in test administration and scoring.
  • Completes testing protocols and maintains accurate record of time spent with patient.
  • Performs various administrative duties that include but are not limited to, allocation of resources, schedule optimization, procurement of testing supplies, collection and storage of patient information, insuring availability and security of information, and communicating appointment requirements to other hospitals and clinics for complex scheduling.
  • Explains test procedures to patients and provide instruction on how to relax for any type of neuropsychological or general psychological test.

  • Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.
  • Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
  • Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed
  • Supervision Received: Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $70,921.64 to $106,382.45
Hourly Salary Range: $34.10 to $51.15
