Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


The employee will supervise psychiatric and substance use services, direct services in accordance with guidelines of federal, state, and local governing, regulatory and accreditation organizations, will serve as a licensed representative for COMMUNITY RENEWAL TEAM to obtain regulatory approval for program service operation, lead professional staff in maintaining quality and safety in the delivery of all care, and provide psychiatric and substance use assessment and treatment to meet needs of patients at all service locations.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Formulates clear treatment goals for patients based on assessments, as indicated in the treatment plan and updates treatment goals as patient's needs change as reflected in progress notes, and minimaaly based on funding designation.
  • Primary responsibilities include psychiatric evaluation of patients admitted to the program in accordance with clinical policy and procedures, psychiatric treatment interventions including pharmacotherapy (if appropriate), and on-site assessment of patient risk to determine the need for hospitalization.
  • Supervises clinical team members in the assessment and treatment of patients with identified behavior and/or substance use disorders.
  • Provides direct patient care to individuals whom are 18 years and older.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance program in such as areas as the development of medical quality outcome measures, peer review, second opinion, as requested by Community Renewal Team's Vice President of Clinical and Senior Service.
  • Provides initial evaluation of patients to ensure that they meet basic utilization review criteria for acceptance into an outpatient level of care.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the highest standards of care, superior service and compassion in order to meet the needs of all customers (patients, families, guests, fellow employees, Physicians/APRNs, payers and the community) we serve.
  • Demonstrates a consistent ability to use psychopharmacologic agents appropriately in an adult out-patient population.

Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM TRAINING EXPERIENCE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine leading to a medical degree, and completion of an approved residency program in psychiatry.

Minimum Years of Experience: Must have Psychiatric Residency completed.

Active Certification in good Standing: Current Connecticut MD License. Board-certified in Neurology, Psychiatry (Psychiatry), or Addiction.

Demonstrate skills: Ability to function in a complex system and to interact with other professionals regarding the treatment of patients. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and educational levels.

Knowledge: Knowledge of principles, procedures and techniques of general psychiatric practice and knowledge of current trends in psychiatry. Knowledge of community, state and federal resources available to patients.

Physical and TB Required: Yes, prior to appointment

Bilingual: Preferred– Language Spanish speaking
