Reporting to the Family Medicine Director, the Provider Floor Lead oversees and ensures the proper execution of all Medical Department activities on their medical floor at the 1340 building or FSE, depending on the Floor Lead’s home base.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities


  • Prescribes medication
  • Continues professional development activities
  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains board eligibility or board certification in medicine (and subspecialty if applicable)
  • Leads peer review efforts among medical providers on their medical floor
  • Administrative (4 hours per week)
  • Formulates differential diagnosis and treatment plans according to accepted standards
  • Medical Department Provider Meeting
  • Provides psychosocial screening and evaluation to Fenway patients
  • Attends and/or leads (in the absence of the Director of Medical Services), the following meetings…
  • Maintains controlled substance licensure in MA and federal DEA license
  • Complies with Fenway Health Infection Control plan and ensures compliance by support staff
  • Refers to medical and/or surgical specialists for consultation as appropriate and follows up on results
  • Maintains full medical licensure in MA
  • Takes appropriate medical history
  • Together with the Director of Medical Services, oversees development and monitoring of their medical floor’s budget
  • Screens for substance abuse, tobacco use, domestic violence, seat belt use, immunization status, nutrition and exercise as necessary and initiates appropriate interventions
  • Conducts physical exam
  • Clinical (33.5 hours per week)
  • Orders and interprets appropriate tests
  • Adheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
  • Meets agency participatory expectations
  • Provides appropriate and timely documentation of clinical work
  • Maintains patient records in a timely manner in the electronic medical record
  • Serves as a leader and mentor for medical providers on their medical floor
  • Provides supervision to mid-level practitioners and trainees, helps set up diagnosis and treatment plans, and helps provide back up to them
  • Provides night time and weekend/holiday coverage as scheduled
  • Participates in outreach programs
  • Completes minimum CME requirements
  • Works with the Medical Management Team to ensure adequate clinical coverage of their medical floor and the department
  • Provides and maintains credentials to practice medicine
  • Patient Centered Medical Home Initiative Team Meeting
  • Provides preventative health care advice, assesses the psychosocial impact of illness, and treats or appropriately refers the patient for evaluation and treatment
  • Participates in educational conferences with other practitioners
  • Participates in peer review and quality improvement processes
  • Provides leadership within their medical floor with respect to accreditation by organizations such as the Joint Commission
  • Medical Department Leadership Team Meeting
  • Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Participates in health center quality improvement efforts
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested
  • Assesses the social status of the patient and refers for appropriate intervention as necessary
  • Medical Department Staff Meeting
  • Maintains AAHVIM certification
  • Maintains credentials with BIDPO and the CareGroup PSN
  • Provides direct medical services to Fenway patients
  • Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Other meetings as needed
  • Plans, initiates, maintains, and oversees the assessment of quality and compliance standards for patient care on their medical floor
  • Evaluates job performance of, provides personal and written reviews of, and recommends appropriate personnel actions for all medical providers on their medical floor
  • Actively participates in educational efforts through HMS and BIDMC
  • Completes forms and reports for insurance companies and other agencies, as needed
  • Oversees recruitment, orientation and retention of medical providers (physicians, midlevel providers) on their medical floor
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Provides age-specific care per Fenway Health policy


Requirements


  • Board eligibility or certification

  • Current AAHIVM credentials (or is actively pursing AAHIVIM certification)
  • MD/DO/NP/PA degree
  • Current Massachusetts license


Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

  • Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus
  • Noise Level: usually quiet
  • Occasional required: lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
  • OSHA Category 1: involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues
  • Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required: lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
