Property And Evidence Technician

Job Summary: Under supervision, you will assist with collection, custody, disposition, and care of evidence and property brought into the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office possession. To ensure security, you will receive and log evidence into the property and evidence facility. You will maintain and use the property and evidence tracking system to locate items. You will assist with the disposition of property and cases, prepare requested evidence, and ensure compliance with court orders, departmental operating procedures, and applicable laws. You will assist with the scheduling and transporting of evidence and property to other locations. You will assist with appropriately disposing of items for destruction, sale, auction, and department use. You will maintain and provide records and reports related to the transfer, release, and disposition of evidence and property to ensure proper description, location, chain of custody, and item integrity. You may be required to work various shifts, including nights and weekends. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and two (2) years of general office and database management experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Inventory control experience is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
