Job Description

The Project Controls scheduler will provide scheduling other project control functions for FlexGen’s portfolio of energy storage projects, including integration services; product supply; and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. Responsible for developing level three resource-loaded, critical path method project schedules.

Energy storage represents a multibillion-dollar market at the center of the energy transition. The integration of energy storage requires software and technological solutions that play a critical role in the adoption of renewables at scale—offsetting the intermittency and reliability challenges that renewable power generation creates for the grid. Since its founding in 2009, FlexGen has supported deployments of more than 3 GWh of energy storage systems across the U.S. and internationally for utility, independent power producers, and C&I customers. The Company’s proprietary software platform, HybridOS™ is the brains behind battery energy storage projects, unlocking the full functionality of energy storage and enabling owners to manage multiple sites from a single platform.

FlexGen is dedicated to providing best-in-class service and performance for its customers, seeking to ensure safety, reliability and resiliency in all operating environments. FlexGen supports the customer across the full journey of developing an energy storage project and leverages decades of engineering and software expertise to maximize value that its customers ultimately receive.

Backed by a world-class group of investors including: founding investors Jerry Miller and Mark Dreyfus, legacy investors GE Venture and Caterpillar Ventures, an initial equity investment by venture capital firm Altria Group, a Series B led by Apollo Global Management, and a Series C led by Swiss investment firm Vitol with participation from all existing investors, FlexGen is poised to grow substantially and quite rapidly.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and identify schedule deviations, risks, and/or constraints to plan and make recommendations to the Project Controls Lead and Project Managers.
  • Develop and maintain detailed large and complex project scheduling plans and work breakdown structures to support project activity scheduling.
  • Analyze availability and resource constraints across multiple projects.
  • Analyze and monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop labor cost budgets from as-sold estimates.
  • Maintain the schedule baseline and work with the Project Managers to manage change requests.
  • Provide scheduling support for multiple project teams.
  • Run multiple schedule scenarios to support scenario planning reviews.
  • Develop key performance indicators for task-based schedule metrics.
  • Provide application of scheduling logic, constraints, lag/lead relationships, float management, etc., to apply critical path scheduling methodology.
  • Collaborate with other Operations team members to develop and implement project management processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Project Managers and project team members to establish project schedule requirements, milestones, and deliverables.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience working on large-scale projects in the construction, engineering, or energy industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project scheduling software and Project Online.
  • Level 3 Scheduling experience.
  • A minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Experience working in software systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Power BI, Excel.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to negotiate and influence project issues.
  • Experience working with project life cycles.
  • CAPM certification preferred.
