Job Description
Summary


We are a leading, national consulting firm that provides compassionate, full-spectrum emergency management services including planning and preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation services to the public and private sectors before, during and after a natural disaster or catastrophic event.


Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal, and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation.


The Project Manager is responsible for assisting the company and clients with special projects within their scope as a subject matter expert. The project manager will provide advanced support, advice and analytical services to private businesses and government agencies with project management as they navigate how to deal with any emergency management functions needed. Each Project Manager will have a specific work portfolio based on skills sets and needs. The position will be guided in all activities by ACDC’s Corporate Values Platform.


Full Time or Part Time: Full Time/Exempt


Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Regular


Reporting Division: Response/PMO Office


Compensation: $70k-$100k per year

Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Assist in the development and manage contracts with sub-consultants, vendors, and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.

  • Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform quality control review procedures over work performed by other consultants and over client-provided documents as requested.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Maintain/pursue ongoing knowledge, certifications, and subject matter expertise as appropriate.
  • Perform routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard analysis and planning techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Identify potential impacts/implications of policy changes to Federal/State/local programs and provide briefings as required
  • Manage project staff ensuring client satisfaction and deliverables are achieved.
  • Interact closely with subject matter experts in research of technical information and input.
  • Manage critical portions of projects and ensure all aspects of a project are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline.
  • Conduct meetings and briefings with clients, prepare and facilitate budgets, proposals, client presentations, develop materials and reporting as needed.
  • Support and assist in leading all corporate and program operations on all division projects in addition to general emergency management services as needed.
  • Prepare analysis details and outlines, technical specifications, studies and reports, project documents, and provide support of broader security and safety activities.

  • Lead client communications and meetings pertaining to specific assignments or projects.

Experience And Education Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, business administration, project management or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience managing small and large-scale projects, business analysis, operations, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced level knowledge and/or experience in two or more Emergency Management Disciplines preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
  • At least 1-year direct leadership experience or experience leading complex portions of projects teams/tasks, program management or full scope programs.
  • Knowledge of full scope Emergency Management protocols and familiarity with state and local plans, agencies, and funding sources is necessary.
  • Advanced level customer service experience


Experience And Education Preferred


  • 5-7+ years’ advanced or subject matter expert-level knowledge/experience in various emergency management functions with a focus on your current division.
  • 3+ years of leadership and management oversight including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and meeting contract requirements.


Applicable Certifications:


  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)


Supervisory Responsibilities


The Project Manager of Emergency Management may have supervisory responsibilities within projects, but no direct reports on a full-time basis.


Expected Hours of Work


Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount. Employees are generally expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and could work up to 20 hours of overtime each week.


Travel Requirements


  • Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.
  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for prolonged periods of time.


Physical Demands


  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time as needed.
  • Mobility required on-site with clients.


Work Environment


  • Emergency management consultants may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
  • Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.
  • If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
