SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – CONSULTANT:

• This role is key in promoting and adhering to the organization’s Project Management Methodology, including communication and management of tasks for all phases of the Project Lifecycle. This position resides in the Portfolio Management Office of the Information and Technology Services (ITS) / Enterprise Transformation department of the client. The Senior Project Manager reports to the Manager of the PMO.

The Senior Project Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Identifying resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities
• Demonstrating a willingness to collaborate and support the PMO and ITS peers and leadership The Senior Project Manager is also responsible for supporting the advancement of the PMO’s mission.
• Producing project reports and performance metrics
• Educating ITS staff and Project Management stakeholders on PMO processes and tools.
• Defining project scopes, initiating and managing large, complex enterprise projects and programs
• Continuously improving the Project Methodology
• Providing input into Project Management Best Practices
• Managing through all stages of the project life cycle
• Supporting business and project management staff
• Creating and executing project work plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
• Supporting Portfolio Management that provides a forward-looking picture of project work
• Providing project status and other deliverables at each stage of a defined project management methodology
• Using influence to eliminate bottlenecks and potential resource alignment problems
• Communicating with the Portfolio Management Office manager and ITS management regarding the status of a portfolio of projects
• Managing stakeholders and stakeholder expectations
• Planning, directing and implementing complex projects on time, within budget and with desired functionality
• Initiating and managing multiple projects in parallel and with multiple dependencies
• Identify and manage portfolio risks
• Effectively managing vendor relationships in accordance to client and ITS strategies and directives
• Managing projects and programs within standard project management methodologies to time, quality and budget
• Managing PMO operational activities, ensuring current, accurate and quality project information across the portfolio
• Providing excellent service (internal and external to ITS)
• Guiding ITS and Business Leaders to ensure the portfolio of projects supports the Vision
• Building strong project teams across multiple divisions

Under the general supervision of the Project Management Section Chief, this position is responsible for planning, development, implementation, and administration of complex infrastructure, applications, and IT service development including critical support projects that have statewide impact. This position primarily provides advanced level project management, analysis, and design.

This position provides project management expertise for customers within and outside state government. This role is key in promoting and adhering to the organization’s Project Management Methodology, including communication and management of tasks for all phases of the Project Lifecycle. This position will manage multiple projects simultaneously.
